Court convicts Curtis Wilmoth in child sexual battery case
RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, a jury convicted Curtis Edward Wilmoth on multiple counts related to child sexual battery and gratification of lust, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department said.
During the sentencing phase, Judge Brad Mills ordered that Wilmoth be remanded to the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for 40 years, with 20 years of the sentence suspended, the department said.
The conviction follows a trial that began Monday, according to the sheriff’s department, and caps an investigation that began after the department was made aware of allegations. The sheriff’s department did not provide further details about the charges or the evidence presented at trial in its post.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department thanked Investigator Jimmy Rogers and Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett and his staff for their handling of the case. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
