County roads impassable as trees, power lines block routes
A post on the county’s Facebook page warned that a large portion of county roads are impassable because of trees and downed power lines, creating hazardous travel conditions.
The post said emergency responders are having to clear paths and find alternate routes to reach people who call for help, and that response times will be longer than normal. Residents were advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
Officials also cautioned that onlookers encroaching on active response areas can delay or hinder emergency operations. The post asked people to avoid response zones so crews can work safely and efficiently.
County public works and emergency management agencies typically coordinate road clearing and work with utility crews to secure downed lines before crews remove debris, a process that can extend closures and limit access. Impassable roads can delay medical and other emergency services and disrupt daily travel.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
