Precinct 4’s Captain Warren Hull and Councilwoman Tina Clay joined Read Across America at North Jackson Academy this morning, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The post said the two teamed up for the school event and added that they appeared to enjoy the activity as much as the students. The department included photos with the post showing the pair participating in the reading celebration, according to the Facebook entry.
Read Across America is a nationwide literacy initiative that encourages children to read and often involves community leaders visiting schools to promote reading and literacy. Events such as this are common ways for local officials and law enforcement to engage with students outside formal enforcement roles.
