Capitol Police arrest wanted man after brief pursuit in Jackson

JACKSON — A man wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service was arrested Tuesday after leading Capitol Police on a brief pursuit in Jackson, authorities said. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle about 2:21 p.m. because it had no tag, officials said.

The driver did not stop and led officers on a short chase that ended near Woodrow Wilson Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, authorities said. After the vehicle stopped, 36-year-old Jarvaris Davis tried to run but was quickly apprehended without further incident, officials said.

Authorities said Davis was wanted through the U.S. Marshals Service and investigators determined the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen. He is charged with felony fleeing and possession of a stolen vehicle, officials said.

The U.S. Marshals Service routinely assists local and state law enforcement in locating and arresting fugitives. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
