Cadet Class 70 endures OC spray during training, moves to week 3

Cadet Class 70 pushed through exposure to OC spray during recent training and will begin week 3 next week, organizers said on social media. The class of 64 cadets completed the exercise despite the discomfort that comes with oleoresin capsicum exposure.

OC spray, commonly used in law enforcement and military training, produces temporary burning, tearing and respiratory irritation intended to simulate real-world confrontations. In controlled settings, instructors use it to teach coping techniques, decontamination procedures and how to continue functioning under stress.

Training exercises that include OC spray are designed to build physical tolerance, mental resilience and procedural familiarity for cadets who may face similar conditions in the field. Completing the exercise signals progression in the program and readiness to move into more advanced phases of training.

Details about the training location, schedule and the sponsoring organization were not provided. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
