Brandon hosts annual Crawfish Crawl 5K, festival

BRANDON — The Brandon Main Street Association will host its fourth annual Crawfish Crawl 5K and post-race festival on Saturday, April 18, drawing hundreds of runners and visitors to downtown Brandon, organizers said.

Organizers said more than 250 participants have registered, with runners coming from across Mississippi and neighboring states including Florida and Louisiana. The event serves as a fundraiser for the association and aims to boost local businesses by bringing visitors to shop and dine throughout the day.

The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and wind through downtown, followed by the New Little Crawlers one-mile run at 8:30 a.m. A finish-line celebration at Genna Benna’s will feature breakfast, drinks and live music. The Crawfish Crawl Festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mudbugs042 and will include crawfish, live entertainment and crawfish races, organizers said.

Organizers said the event has become a community effort, with residents lining the race route to cheer on participants. The Crawfish Crawl coincides with a full weekend of events in Brandon, including a City Hall Live comedy show Friday evening and a concert at the Brandon Amphitheater Saturday night, which officials say further increases tourism and highlights downtown as a destination for community events and economic activity.
