Brackney holds first JPD ComStat meeting on second day

Chief Rashall Brackney held her first Jackson Police Department ComStat meeting on her second day on the job, the department said in a Facebook post. The post said the meeting took place “this morning” and expressed enthusiasm about momentum heading into the chief’s next ComStat session.

The Jackson Police Department posted the announcement on its official Facebook page. The department did not provide additional operational details or a date for the meeting in the post.

ComStat is a widely used, data-driven policing strategy in which law enforcement leaders regularly review crime statistics, set priorities and hold commanders accountable for results. Agencies use ComStat meetings to identify trends, allocate resources and develop tactical responses to crime patterns.

Holding a ComStat meeting early in a new chief’s tenure can signal an emphasis on accountability and a focus on crime suppression and community safety, observers say. The department’s social media post conveyed anticipation for Brackney’s next meeting and described a sense of momentum.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
