Biloxi police monitor city during Spring Break weekend
BILOXI, Mississippi — The Biloxi Police Department said in a Facebook post that it will actively monitor activity across the city during Spring Break weekend and may increase patrols and position officers in key areas to ensure public safety.
The department warned that higher traffic volumes are possible and that the city’s Special Events Traffic Plan will be in effect. The plan, the post said, may include road closures, detours and adjusted traffic patterns in certain areas.
Officials urged residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow posted signage and directions from officers. The post said the department appreciates cooperation from the public and encouraged everyone to help make the weekend safe and enjoyable.
Spring Break often brings more visitors and heavier traffic to Gulf Coast communities, increasing demands on local public-safety and traffic-management resources. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
