Biloxi cadets attend Southeastern Law Enforcement Explorer Academy

BILOXI, Miss. — Public safety cadets from the Biloxi Police Department attend the Southeastern Law Enforcement Explorer Academy each summer, a free, hands-on camp that mirrors a real police academy experience, the department said on Facebook.

The department said cadets train, learn and connect with motivated teens from agencies across Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and Texas. The Biloxi Police Department Public Safety Cadet Program currently has openings, and officials said there is still time to join and qualify for this year’s Southeastern Law Enforcement Explorer Academy, often abbreviated SLEEA.

Law enforcement explorer programs generally offer teens practical training, leadership development and exposure to careers in public safety while serving as community outreach and recruitment tools for agencies. Organizers say these programs help participants build skills, make professional connections and explore whether a career in law enforcement is right for them.

The Biloxi program’s announcement on social media encourages interested teens to apply. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
