Authorities arrest man after pursuit in Yazoo County
Kalveonte Moore is in custody after a vehicle pursuit that began near Yazoo City, the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
Investigator Antwan Jones observed the vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 49 as it entered the Yazoo City limits, the office said. Deputies made contact with the vehicle but the driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.
The sheriff’s office said Moore was wanted out of Hinds County on carjacking charges. The vehicle he was driving was confirmed stolen and has been recovered. Multiple agencies coordinated the response, and the pursuit concluded without injury, the post said.
All officers involved are reported safe, and Moore is being held at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility, according to the post. The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Yazoo County, Mississippi, which includes Yazoo City. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
