Pounders, Deputy Curbow and Deputy Chism completed a Field Training Officer/First-Line Supervisor Course at the Amory Police Department training facility Feb. 9-13, the department said. The 40-hour course ran over the week and aimed to strengthen officers’ ability to train and mentor colleagues and to develop supervisory skills.
The department said the course covered a wide range of topics and challenged participants through a written examination and practical, real-world scenarios in which officers applied what they learned. The program is designed to prepare officers for responsibilities as field training officers and first-line supervisors.
Participants represented multiple agencies, including Amory Police Department, Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, City of Louisville Police Department, MSU Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Nettleton Police Department, Pontotoc Police Department and West Point Police Department.
Amory Police Department said, “We are extremely proud of every officer who attended,” and thanked each agency for entrusting it with training. The department posted photos of the graduates on its social media page.
