UMMC restores services after cyberattack; elective procedures canceled through Friday
UMMC said Wednesday it is making significant progress responding to a cyberattack and restoring its systems. The health system said all hospitals and emergency departments in Jackson, Madison County, Holmes County and Grenada remain open.
UMMC said regularly scheduled clinic appointments and elective procedures will be canceled through Friday. Officials said all canceled appointments will be rescheduled and patients with time-sensitive needs can call the automated UMMC Triage Line at 601-815-0000.
UMMC said patients who contact the system and require urgent care will be contacted directly to schedule a clinic visit through Friday. Through “diligent and around-the-clock work,” the system said it is hopeful elective procedures and regular clinic operations can resume as early as Monday, but that its ability to do so will become clearer over the next couple of days.
The system apologized for the inconvenience. UMMC is a major health care provider in the state. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
