UMMC builds cancer center to unite patient care, research
Nearly every family has been touched by cancer, UMMC said in a Facebook reel announcing plans to build a new cancer center that will bring patient care, research and clinical trials together in one location.
UMMC said the center is a bold effort intended to streamline treatment and improve access to experimental therapies by housing medical teams and research activities under one roof. The post included the campaign tagline abouttime.ms.
Integrating clinical care with research and trials is a model many academic medical centers pursue to shorten the time between discovery and treatment. Advocates say co-locating services can make it easier for patients to enroll in studies and for clinicians to apply the latest findings to care.
UMMC did not provide additional details in the post, including a timeline, location or cost. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
