MSDH recognizes National Public Health Week
The Mississippi State Department of Health is observing National Public Health Week April 6-12, joining agencies and organizations across the country in an annual effort to highlight the role of public health professionals, the department said.
MSDH said public health workers — including nurses, physicians, epidemiologists, inspectors and community health workers — make an impact in every part of Mississippi by protecting and improving community health.
Throughout the week, the department said it will highlight daily services that support Mississippi families, including perinatal and infant services, child and adolescent services, adult health, vital records and statistics, regulatory services and the Women, Infants and Children program. It also plans to feature communicable disease prevention, county health departments, rural health and physician workforce programs, emergency medical services and acute care systems, the opioid and substance use program, epidemiology and the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program.
MSDH encouraged the public to follow updates through the MSDH Healthy Mobile App and on its website during the observance. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
