Clinics statewide remain closed Wednesday
UMMC said in a Facebook post that clinics statewide will remain closed Wednesday, Feb. 25, and elective procedures are canceled. Appointments will be rescheduled when possible. UMMC hospitals and emergency departments in Jackson, Grenada, Madison County and Holmes County remain open.
The medical center has set up a triage line for patients at 601-815-0000. For medical emergencies, UMMC said, call 911. The center said requests for time-sensitive needs, such as medication refills or postoperative care visits, will be prioritized.
Callers should speak clearly when prompted to provide their name, callback number, date of birth, who they are trying to reach and their reason for calling. People calling for prescription refills should have the medication name and dosage and the name, address and telephone number of their pharmacy.
UMMC said messages will be routed to the appropriate person for a return call, which may come from a non-UMMC number, and that return calls may be delayed because of high call volume. The medical center asked patients not to call multiple times and apologized for the interruption. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
