Oxford School District closes schools Monday for inclement weather
Oxford School District said in a social media post that schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to inclement weather. The district said a decision about whether to hold classes Tuesday will be made by noon Monday.
Officials said they will continue to consult with the National Weather Service and Lafayette County Emergency Management throughout the week as they monitor conditions. The district said it will notify families and staff through its messaging system, including text, email, social media and its website.
Closures affect classroom instruction, transportation and extracurricular activities and can disrupt meal services and child care plans for families. Local school districts typically close when weather or road conditions create safety risks for students and staff.
Oxford School District is the local public school system serving the Oxford area and surrounding communities. The district said it will provide updates as conditions change. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
