Overstreet Elementary celebrates D.A.R.E. graduates April 2

Overstreet Elementary School will celebrate students who completed its D.A.R.E. program Thursday, April 2, the school posted on its Facebook page.

Each learning team will be honored at two separate graduation ceremonies. The first ceremony will commence at 10 a.m., and the second will begin at 1 p.m., the announcement said.

D.A.R.E., or Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a national program taught in many U.S. schools that focuses on decision-making skills, resisting peer pressure and avoiding drug and alcohol use. Schools often hold graduation ceremonies to recognize student participation and completion of the curriculum.

The ceremonies mark a milestone for students who have completed the program and offer a chance for families and school staff to acknowledge their work. The school posted the schedule on social media but did not provide additional details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
