Mooreville deputies counsel students on distracted, impaired driving
Deputies Anderson and Thrasher, Mooreville school resource officers, recently spent time with students discussing the dangers of distracted and impaired driving, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi said in a Facebook post.
The post said the deputies used open conversation and real-life examples to emphasize the importance of making safe choices and never getting behind the wheel under the influence.
School resource officers are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to schools to provide safety, mentorship and education. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the visit is part of its ongoing effort to invest in student safety and the community’s future.
Efforts like this aim to reduce crashes and raise awareness among young drivers, who are often at higher risk for collisions related to distraction or impairment. The sheriff’s office said it is proud of the positive impact its SROs continue to make. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
