Caroline Compretta wins 2026 SEC Faculty Achievement Award

Dr. Caroline Compretta, assistant vice chancellor for research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has received the 2026 Southeastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award for a career dedicated to health equity, community partnerships and public health research, UMMC said.

The SEC Faculty Achievement Award recognizes faculty whose work leaves a lasting impact on students, communities and institutions, according to the university. The Southeastern Conference includes a group of universities in the southeastern United States that also highlight academic and research accomplishments as part of their institutional missions.

Compretta’s work at UMMC — the health campus of the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Mississippi — places emphasis on addressing disparities in health outcomes and building partnerships with community organizations, UMMC said. The award highlights academic contributions that extend beyond classrooms and laboratories into communities served by the institution.

The recognition underscores the role of academic research and community collaboration in advancing public health and training the next generation of health professionals. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
